Photos - Mount Hotham Snowboarding

Picasa PhotosetFinally managed to get a short weekend holiday, our first in Australia, and first in well over a year and a half, and where do we go? Only the coldest place there is here...

Mount Hotham is a pretty cool place, [no pun intended] about 4 hrs drive from the city with a full on resort, bars, shops, restaurants, hotels and plenty of interesting and varied slopes for skiers and boarders alike. An awesome time had by all, no thanks to two friends who made the whole weekend a blast for all. Cheers Dave & Gav!

Rooftop Cinema, Melbourne

Picasa PhotosetOne of the best experiences I've had since coming to Melbourne has been to enjoy a movie outside, high up amongst the city's skyscrapers. The Rooftop Cinema is only accessible by a heart attack inducing amount of stairs, or via the wobbly, and decidely dodgy, tiny, polly pocket sized elevator.

The views at the top however are well worth it, as is the great sound, screen, and bar. With faux grass and deck chairs for seating, this is one unique experience.

The last port of "Coll"...Literally.

Picasa PhotosetOne of the very last things we did in Scotland just before we left for Australia, was to finally after many failed attempts, visit friends on the island of Coll. It took us leaving to the other side of the world before we got together, but the trip was amazing.

With beaches that never end, cool blue water, out of this world scenery, crazy cows, amazing BBQ's & food [Donuts and custard for dessert, yum] Elvis scarecrows, and good friends, old and new, this is one of the best trips I've ever made.

A 'mad' weekend [Wave yer hands Roberto!] was had, and if you ever get the chance and want to see an often overlooked amazingly beautiful part of Scotland, don't wait, make Coll your first port of call.

Photos - Great Ocean Rd/Twelve Apostles

Picasa PhotosetOn an initial holiday to Australia in Feb 2006, we wanted to check out the famous Twelve Apostles which are located on the Great Ocean Road, just outside Melbourne. Pretty awesome stuff to say the least, and the day trip we took stopped at everywhere you would need to see along the road.

From great surfing communities like the renowned Bells Beach, to Koala sanctuary's, and an insight into some of the historical details on the road and why it was built, and finally on to the remaining of the great monolithic apostles.

Now almost two years later, we'll be heading back for another trip hopefully soon, and if your ever out this way, make sure you add this as must do on your holiday. It isn't called the Great Ocean Road for nothing.

Glasgow, farewell fair city. [And to Greggs]

Picasa PhotosetOn the day before I left Scotland to move to Australia, I took a short walk through the centre of Glasgow and took a few pictures. Whilst I'll be there again I'm sure, they turned out to be quite memorable in their own way, well to me anyway [And the sun was shining which was fairly memorable].

From the Duke Of Wellingtons permanent cone hat to the [staple diet for many a lunching Scot] fine aroma of a Greggs, Glasgow sure is, and will always be, as one photo says, Scotland with style.

Photo's - Loch Lomond, Scotland

Picasa PhotosetWe managed to sneak in two weekends in Scotland with some decent weather and headed up to Loch Lomond. One was spent enjoying a lazy day and far too many cakes at Inversnaid, it's hotel, waterfall, & visiting the spectacular waste of time that was Rob Roy's cave.

The other weekend was joining my brother & fiancé on their boat, and going out on the Loch whilst enjoying some beers and sunshine. Another excellent lazy day, topped off at night, by a 'Braveheart' burger [read 'heart-attack'] at the fantastic Drovers Inn. They don't call it the 'bonny banks' of Loch Lomond for nothing. Photo's - Star Wars Celebration Europe, London

Picasa PhotosetRecently went on a short trip to London with an old friend of mine, and aside from meeting other friends [Hey Jo!] before I move to Australia, we attended Star Wars Celebration Europe. A massive, massive show, full of entertainment, props, stars of the movies, and fans galore.

I've never attended anything like this before, but was just amazed at good it was. The social aspect was worth it alone, with much beer, food and above all, great fun had by all. Click this post's title or the link below to get a view of what was on offer.

The Big Apple...

I'd managed to fly through New York about eight times in my life on connecting journeys, but still hadn't got the chance to actually visit. So not wasting another chance and using an excuse to see a friend, we finally experienced New York in all it's grandeur. Big, bold, brash, & beautiful, I could spend a week just writing about all it has to offer, as it's something that will never leave you once you've been.

Instead I'll let the pictures do the talking. Click the link above to see a Picasa flash photo slide show, or click one of the links below to view a gallery. [Thanks again Dave for the Museum party invite and that 'money shot' view from your apartment-stunning stuff sir!]
